Straight terms,
since most of you are strangers,
‘n new to my spectacle,
I was almost a father once.
named the kid.
and then he wasn’t.
and because of the method,
I don’t have much stock in trying again.
I don’t dwell on it they way I used to,
but when I got relatives askin’ about kids,
he’s got that special kind of hurt.
‘spose that don’t make much sense to anyone who ain’t been there,
‘n I hope you ain’t been there.
made it through father’s day,
keep goin’
keep on.
