I’m fairly certain the very clearly pregnant woman standing next to me in line has her phone on speaker in her purse because from that bag there is the voice of a middle aged woman and a young child of indeterminate age and gender speaking in hushed tones that remind me very much of meaningless mouth twirls.
The woman is not acknowledging these voices in any way, or having a conversation.
There is a steak knife handle very clearly protruding from the side pocket of her purse.
She is buying a slushy and a bag of chips,
and stops every few seconds to adjust her shirt over her distended belly.
