Winter Mornings (2014)

Snow ain’t quite thick yet,
still got some time for the last of them chores,
get those leaves up before they ruin the lawn.
Grab them final few sticks from that wind-storm.

I’m a bit jealous of them that can pull a room together,
a little green of that aesthetic eye.
        I got these grand dreams,
        these catalog fantasies,
but what I got is life half-strewn at all times.

and I still have no idea if she’s even into the idea of talking,
    because we don’t, but I don’t, I don’t,
I don’t know a thing about her, really,
    but I’m trying, and trying,
and still don’t know if she minds the try,

low of nine tonight, with windchill, -15 tomorrow.
Snow ain’t thick yet,
but god, but god, god it’s comin’,
‘n it’s s-s-so cold.

Snow ain’t quite thick yet,
still got time for the last chores,
but these blankets are warm,
and that dream where I was a doctor was pretty fun.
